CFP: Fifth European Pragmatism Conference
The Fifth European Pragmatism Conference will take place at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, in 20-22 August 2025. The conference is hosted by the Dewey-Center, Switzerland and organised in collaboration with the Nordic Pragmatist Network, Associazione Pragma (Italy), Pragmata (France), The Central European Pragmatist Forum, the German Pragmatism Network (Germany), and the European Pragmatism Association. The conference will be preceded by a workshop organised by the Women in Pragmatism Network.
The deadline for the call for panels will be 1 February 2025, with a 21 February deadline for the call for individual papers. Please see the conference webpage for more information.
Dear Sir/Madam
I am Prof. Dr. Hikmet Kırık from Istanbul University, Political Science Faculty. I wish to attend The Fifth European Pragmatism Conference at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, in 20-22 August 2025.
I wish to attend the conference, if possible. Sorry for late application. My motivation is to listen papers and engage in debates and dialoques as well as get to know academics an intellectual working on pragmatism.
I am interested pragmatism in Turkish society from cultural as well as political aspects of it.
I have already published a book (in Turkish) “Republic and Pragmatizm: Unwritten Theory)
Currently working on a research proposal tracing pragmatic patterns in Turkish classical cannons (i.e The Book of Dede Korkut, Nasreddin Hodja and Rumi’s Mesnevi assuming they can powerfully ground research in the deep cultural roots of Turkish pragmatism. These texts carry embedded worldviews and ethical logics that shape everyday life, collective memory, and national identity — even if indirectly.
